making the wood texture

First covered whole tree with DECOSA foam glue. Then mixed plaster with regular wood glue and covered the whole tree. At this point do your magic and try to make it as closed as a real tree texture. I am trying to make a beech like tree here which does not have a strong texture. When covering the trunk, I used a piece of wire to make a tree like texture. When it is all completed let it dry..

adding little branches

I made the little branches out of 0.9mm aluminum wire and masking tape. Lets say you need 8 little branches at the end; take 8 wires and separate into 2 and 4 and 8,.. then cover all with masking tape.

I used yarn when adding the little branch to the main tree branch to make it connected nicely without a thickness difference and covered connection points with masking tape..

Glue roots to the base

I carved the base for the roots and glued with a foam glue named DECOSA..

Making the roots, trunk and brunch

I used 3 and 2 mm galvanized wire for the roots, trunk and main branches. Calculated how many branhes I would need for the number of wires to be used. I covered each wire with a piece of newspaper. And shaped the tree using masking tape with these newspaper covered wires. For the little branches I used thinner wire and directly covered with masking tape before mounting to the branches. Detailed pictures to come later….

Base for the tree

I used foam, PVA wood glue and acrylic paint. Cut the foam into a hill shape, cover with glue and paint with green acrylic after glue is dried..

Tree of life….. completed? – almost

It has been about a month I have not posted anything here. I have been working on the tree. Vaooww… 3 weeks, one tree…  I relly like trying to do things I have never done before. This is my first tree for a stop-mo set. So, a lot of fun but at the same time, a lot of things to experiment, try, learn… Anyways, making this tree has taken my 3 weeks in between my other web design works. Here how it looks like:

I do not prefer posting each step as I procees during making this tree. Because I try different things; make things and throw into the garbage,.. going back and forth… So, here you would be able to see the actual steps to make this tree without those different tries.

I will definetely modify this tree when other set elements, rocks, clock,.. are completed and enhance its look. I will also add birds which will be made out of super sculpy.. Later….
